Just like the women I talked to who wanted to get in that bathing suit by Summer, men also ask me the same question: how can I burn fat faster?
It seems like they’re doing everything by the book –following a nutritious balanced diet and following an exercise program, yet the results are moving too slow for the blokes. They want results now!
Which is fare enough isn’t it? Ladies said the same also.
Today, I’ll look at 5 often overlooked aspects of ways for men to burn fat faster. Consider these tips as supplemental to your diet and exercise program, as additional ways to burn fat faster!
1. Stress – say “om” – meditate or maybe yoga
As a man and being mates with lots of men we’re usually under stress for something or other.
Keeping up with personal and financial deadlines as well as with significant others and family –day to day stressful activities at the job can rob us of essential nutrients thus slowing your metabolism, so not burning fat faster than you would like.
When you’re stressed, hormones like cortisol stimulate your appetite, slow your metabolism down and encourage fat storage inside your belly.
Get unstressed – try some meditation to soothing music, or you may want to check out some yoga classes to unwind. These classes won’t only de-stress you and help to burn fat faster, but are excellent wind-down stretching ways of keeping your body fit and supple.
No i know men you may be think “yea James thats not really for me mate”. Look that is fine and i used to think the exact same way.
In my current weekly workouts I’m not doing any form of yoga but in the past i have and i can say i was shocked at how difficult i found some of these routines. I found that i was becoming much more flexible and i was super relaxed.
Don’t knock until you try it guys.
Fella’s if your not open to it then try this outdoor workout. Its certainly not as relaxing as yoga but you still feel awesome when your finished.
2. Sleep a straight 8
Getting enough Zz’s is significantly important in helping to burn fat faster.
Research has shown that that people who got only 4 hours of sleep had more difficulty processing carbs –again the hormone in charge here is cortisol, and lack of sleep leads to increased levels of insulin.
These all effect your metabolism rate in a negative way. Manchester United Vs Chelsea may be an unmissable game, but you’ve got to focus on what the mind and body require – you’ll feel re-charged with dynamism and ready for a day’s full activities – which includes working and training, while faithfully following your eating plans.
3. Hard Core A.M. Cardio (fasting)
15-20 minutes or less of high-intensity interval training or low-to-moderate intensity steady-state cardio without breakfast has been shown to be effective. This is advocated by many weight-training specialists, though it is controversial.
Personally its not something i recommend but i know some very successful and shredded health professionals that believe in this strategy.
The research and reasoning goes like this: you will be doing cardio with depleted reserves of glycogen and insulin in the morning, yet your cortisol levels will be high.
Cortisol breaks down the appropriate tissue depending on the hormones around. Because of the depletion of glycogen and insulin, cortisol will not attack muscle tissue, but instead go after fat body reserves.
This technique will help to burn fat faster, but I would research, perhaps try and gage your benefits, general energy level throughout the day, especially if working out in the p.m.
4. Vitamin D
Ever notice how you feel great after a good day in the sunshine?
Adequate amounts of Vitamin D in your system has proven links with low fat levels –this has been replicated in research.
Vitamin D is related to the hormone leptin. Leptin says to the brain “I’m full.” It also helps cells resist fat storage so you burn fat faster.
